“OUGHT NOT THIS WOMAN”
Text: Luke 13:11 – 16, Luke 19: 1 – 10
“And ought not this woman, being a daughter of Abraham, whom satan hath bound, lo, these eighteen years, be loosed from this bond on the Sabbath day?” …Lk 13: 16 “and Jesus said unto him, this day is salvation come to this house, for so much as he also is a son of Abraham” …Lk 19: 9
Oh! I feel like shouting! Halleluyah! These words are the most powerful statements that our Lord Jesus uttered while he was here on earth.
He understood the covenant God made with our father Abraham in Gen. 17: 1 – 8, to bless him and his seed (descendants).
In Gen. 17: 5, 6, God said “neither shall thy name any more be called Abram, but thy name shall be Abraham, for a father of many nations have I made thee.
And I will make thee exceeding fruitful, and I will make nations of thee, and kings shall come out of thee.
Jesus knew that God has made us super humans.
He knew that we are supposed to have “zoe”, that is God’s kind of life as was said in Psalm 82: 6, 7, He said “we are gods”.
Hence, it’s abnormal to see a son or daughter of Abraham suffer affliction.
How can he/she reign as king?
That is why Jesus shouted at the Jews, “ought not this woman, being a daughter of Abraham … be loosed from this bond on the Sabbath day”.
Jesus was indirectly saying to them, “I will defy your tradition if it has to put a covenant child into bondage.
No wonder he was a friend of sinners.
He knew it was satan who put them in bondage.
Please, ponder over these scriptures and let it influence your perception over God’s children who are suffering.
You will learn not to judge or condemn people any more; rather you will be moved with compassion towards them
And Jesus said “unto him, this day is salvation come to this house, for so much as he also is a son of Abraham; for the son of man is come to seek and to save that which was lost”. …Lk 19: 9, 10.
“The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life and that they might have it more abundantly”. …John 10: 10.
Beloved, can you see how important you are?
Jesus said I come so that you will have abundantly life.
The Greek word translated “abundant life” is “zoe”.
It actually means, “God’s kind of life”.
It means a life that is free of sickness, worries and sorrows.
It meant more than eternal life.
Interestingly, that was the motivation behind the coming of Jesus.
He came so that we will live above sickness and sin, engineered by satan and his cohorts.
Listen to me now as I prophecy to you, “be healed of every disease in Jesus name!”
Honestly, you deserve the best in life, including health.
Praise God! |
