TOUCHING LIVES
A CALL TO SERVICE
There can’t be any greater call to serve God and humanity as that given to us by Jesus in Matt 22:37 – 39. He said, “…thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. This is first and great commandment. And the second is like unto it. Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself”.
Each time this scripture runs through my mind, I acknowledge that I have been called to serve God and His people. I know I owe humanity a lot of contributions. I guess this was the reason why John Cassi’s said “Nobody cares how much you know until they know how much you care”.
Even the great Indian revolutionary, Mohandas K. Gandhi who was latter known as Mahatma Gandhi said “you can only talk to a hungry man in terms of bread”.
Life has a lot to do with donation than duration. If you must be fulfilled in life, you have got to make giving a part of you life.
Think on how to encourage, bless and impact your generation through giving, especially the helpless and less privileged ones.
BALON offers you such opportunity.
I often wonder how come Jesus Christ, Bob Marley, Lucky Dube and Micheal Jackson who lived briefly for 33 years, 36 years, 43 years, and 50 years respectively are remembered yearly than Methuselah who lived for 969 years old, who only begat sons and daughters (Genesis 5:25 – 27).
What a waste of precious life!
So, what are you doing today to advance the status of the down-trodden in our society?
Mother Theresa said “if you can’t feed a hundred people, just feed one”.
Most people want to wait until they have all the money in the world before they can help.
Don’t wait until you are as rich as Bill Gate and Slim Carlos before you help.
Honestly, you won’t you can start to help right now.
All you need is passion.
You have been called to the great ministry of care and welfare for the oppressed.
As a legal practitioner, you can use your ability to advocate for those who are wrongly imprisoned; for people who didn’t have fair trial.
As a doctor, you could organize a seminar to enlighten women on breast cancer.
Do something for humanity, no matter how small.
Live a donated life.
I love the way Mathew Henry puts it, he said “the Christian Spirit is a sympathizing spirit, but a compassionate spirit, it makes every Christian’s suffering our own, puts us upon pitying others, visiting then, helping them and pleading for them”.
Further, it might interest you to know that God actually created us for his pleasure (Rev. 4:11).
He didn’t create us to be having fun and marrying around in night clubs and bear parlours.
He never intended that we lavish the resources he places in our hands in frivolities and selfish as we would to support, love and care for one another as we would to ourselves.
This is what brings him glory.
Dare to use your resources to bless lives today.
You may be worried that you haven’t got enough; we admonish you to come to us today and let us show you somebody whose life will be transformed for better with your token-gift.
Collectively, every kobo will count.
You will be surprised how much glory God will receive over a life that gives him praise, simply because you gave, perhaps, five hundred naira or more to change some ones story.
This is the power of partnership.
Consequently, it’s necessary to note that this call is tedious, tasking, time consuming, energy sapping, and resource consuming, yet it is worth all the challenge.
Finally, the level of impact our crew experience each time we go out to touch lives creates such a joy that is unspeakable.
You can equally touch lives today and experience this joy. |
